Please excuse the fact that I look like HELL, but here I am on Day 3 after the surgery. You can see the left side of my face is still slightly swollen by the lack of smile lines on that side of my face (picture is mirror image and I can't figure out how to fix it...grrr). Also that side of my jaw is tender to the touch and just a titch red, but I think it's from the ice pack I have to do every 20 min or so.
The biggest problem (first world problem that is) I have is the fact I can't really chew anything so I'm having a hard time getting enough calories. I had Cinnabon flavored Cream of Wheat for breakfast just for the calories/carbs, as this in not something I would normally ever eat for breakfast. I had eggs 2x yesterday so I was looking for something different. I also drank 2 big protein shakes and had cottage cheese. I totaled 963 calories by the days end. Today I have had the Cream of Wheat and 2 large homemade vanilla lattes. I used this milk called Mootopia, its a high protein, low carb milk I get at H.E.B.; so each coffee has 135 calories and 18 g of protein. Pretty good for a cup of coffee :)

On a side note...I got this new coffee/espresso maker thing called a "Chambord," also known as a Moka pot. It's basically a stovetop extra strong coffee maker (very similar to espresso). I love that thing. I have tried several home espresso machines in recent history and all have things I didn't like. One required you to grind and tamp the beans, plus steam the milk; another was super-automatic but the milk was luke warm at best; and yet another made such small portions the cost savings ended up being very little as compared to a coffee shop. The little pot cost $50 and although it takes 5-7 minutes to brew, it is perfect every time. I do have to heat my own milk, but I was doing that anyways. Did I mention that I'm a latte/macchiato/coffee addict? :)
I also am bothered by the lack of exercise. Which is somewhat comical if you think about it. Up until a month or so ago I didn't do any exercise and would have loved an excuse to lie around on the couch being lazy, but now I'm just itching to get out and sweat! I guess you could say that is a major NSV, or Non-Scale Victory.
The pain today is worse than yesterday and that's another mystery as well. Yesterday I was fine with just a Motrin, but today I find I want to take the Hydrocodone they gave me, but it makes me sleepy so I don't.
Oh well, soon this will all be but a memory :) Got to run...
