Just wanted to stop in today and share my info from the walk/run intervals I did yesterday. Being that this was my first day back after a week off, coupled with the fact I have only been doing the Couch 2 5K program for barely 4 weeks I didn't have any grand expectations for the workout.
Imagine my surprise when I completed the 3.1 miles in under not just 50 minutes, but under 45 minutes! I felt momentarily like I was an olympic athlete! Like I was a Kenyan!
Just kidding...I felt good, really really good. Adding to my complete shock and amazement I woke up not even the slightest bit sore this morning, so I went out today and did some more.
Well at least I tried to go "out." I got about 1/2 mile from my house and it started to pour. Now had the situation been a little different I might have kept running, but I had my iPod, my cell phone and my dog with me, plus it was starting to get dark out. Mae was not happy and kept trying to run into people's yards, I'm assuming to hide under trees or on front stoops. She hates the rain. Actually she hates water in general unless its to drink. Such a princess she is.
I didn't give up though.
I raced home at lightning speed, which was a pace of 4.18 min/mi according to my Garmin, put the dog inside with Alex, hopped in my car and drove the 4.5 miles to our office to finish my run on the treadmill. Unfortunately all the stopping and starting screwed up the data that was collected; so for some of my splits it has no distance data at all. I used the 1.34 miles I ran before I went to the office and the 1.35 miles the treadmill said as my distance of 2.69 miles.
Since I'm not a Kenyan nor an Olympic athlete that is good enough for me :)
Oh man it's getting late! I got to run...
