No workout today as I said yesterday due to the oral surgery. I knew I would be in pain, but I wasn't prepared for how much pain and discomfort I would be in. One thing I have noticed is that with the VSG and rules about eating a drinking, staying on top of my pain meds is kinda an issue. I'm supposed to take my meds on a full stomach, but I can't drink anything within 30 minutes of eating. It takes me a while to eat as my mouth hurts and I really have to consciously work at it. When I woke from my nap earlier I noticed it was time for another Ibuprofen. So I ate a little 4 oz container of cottage cheese and it took me 30 minutes to eat that, then wait 30 minutes to drink and then I took my pill. Which basically means and hour of being in pain. Next time I'll start an hour before the next pill is needed and I should be good.
The other problem is finding things I can eat that don't require chewing and pack a calorie/protein punch. I had eggs for breakfast, a huge chocolate protein shake made with 1% milk and the cottage cheese so far today. This totals a whopping 520 calories for the day. I'm not active so I know I don't need a ton of calories, but I'm pretty sure I need more than this. The nurse at the dentist office suggested I eat a Wendy's Frosty. I told her that eating one of those was guaranteed to make me "toss my cookies" and I'm pretty sure that's the last thing they want me to do, given spitting is on the list of no no's for a while. :) I can't tolerate that much sugar at once, its a side effect of the VSG that I have discovered. Not everyone has the same problem, each "sleever" has his/her own list of bad foods.
Oh well, on a positive note I'm catching up on my sleep and will be raring to go once this is all behind me.
Got to run...
